Wellness — Avoid Sonic Doom

Diet plays a big role in our health, even our non-food diet. Have you taken stock of your sonic diet? We have no choice but to share a sonic diet with the people around us. We share the sound space. Like germs, the sounds we share can infect others with malaise or vitality.

Are the sound waves around us bringing vibrancy to our souls? Sound shapes our thoughts, feelings, and actions. Music affects our emotions. Movies use soundtracks to set the mood. What is the soundtrack of our lives?

Is your soundtrack filled with grouching and grousing? If malcontent words are flying from your mouth, transform your mindset. When your ears catch you complaining, stop. Stop and look for the good, not the bad. If the kvetching is coming from your coffee klatch, put some space between your ears and the fluttering lips. You wouldn’t stay around if they were scratching up your skin, so why remain in earshot if they are messing up your mind space?

Listen for beautiful sounds, rustling leaves and babbling water. Orient your ear to the sounds of the rhythm of life. Align the beat of our lives to the vibrations of encouraging words. A beautiful soundscape creates a fertile garden for your soul to grow.

We all endure clanking and wailing sometimes. The bang and clatter are digestible if the horizons of our soundscape are filled with life. If the background of our life is surrounded by screeching, shrieking, and griping, our life capacity runs down. Recharge with quiet. Restore balance with the delightful sound of children playing. Rapture your soul with glorious music. Revel in the stories of the ones you love. Spark shared soundscapes filled with magnificence. Our health depends on it.
