Holy Guacamole

Originated in Mexico. The word guacamole means avocado sauce. Pronounced “Gwauk-a-mole-ee”

Ingredients

3 ripe, diced Avocados

1 tomato, medium, minced

1/2 red onion, minced

2 cloves garlic, minced

¼ cup of lemon juice

¼ cup lime juice

1/2 tsp. salt, plus more to taste

1/8 tsp. freshly ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. Add diced avocado to a bowl with lemon and lime juice. Mash lightly.

  2. Mix the onion with the garlic and salt and combine with the avocados. Mash some more until it has then the texture you like.

  3. Stir in the tomato at the end. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve immediately, and mix to combine.

Gauc Variation

Add chopped jalapeños for some kick

Add some grilled corn kernels for a sweet crunch.

Add some cilantro for a bright citrus flavour

Add Pomegranate seeds for a pop of colour

Add some diced mango for sweetness

Add some chopped pineapple for a tropical twist

Add roasted garlic for a savoury punch

Add Feta cheese for some tang and texture

Add some bacon bits---everything is better with bacon

Add some everything bagel spice for a flavour explosion

Add some cayenne pepper spice for heat

Experiment until you find something you like

How to use guacamole

Use as a dip for tortilla chips or raw veggies.

It can be used as a topping for tacos or burritos

It can be spread on toast or bagels

It can be used as an omelet filling, quesadillas, or even grilled cheese sandwiches.

It can be used as a garnish for tomato soup.

Thinned out with lime juice or olives, guacamole can be used as a salad dressing

How to Store it

Place your leftover guacamole in a storage container and top it off with about a ½ inch of water. The water will slow the browning. When you’re ready to use it, pour out the water, and it’s ready to go.
